My Jail Cell How to Get Pets
Walk into the store while it is light, claim one cheap companion, and be home before the monsters own the hall.
Pets are a daytime errand. The official description lists collecting them next to food and furniture, which makes people treat the store like a main quest. It is not. You get a companion after you can hide, not instead of a couch. This how-to pairs with the pets hub, the pet store page, and the pets tier list.
Method 1: pet store (the real one)
- Wait until a day when the bunker already exists. Getting started and unlock rooms first.
- On the daytime route, add the store after mall and food if the sky is still kind.
- Read labels. Free/cheap beagle-class rows are the correct first pet. VIP tags mean the VIP pass. Pass animals are exotics.
- Claim one. Equip if needed. Leave. Cooldowns are a documented annoyance — do not test the whole zoo.
- Park the pet in the hide room corner that is not your door sightline.
If you cannot find the store, follow inmates during the day. Do not follow anyone toward a mall silhouette at night. That silhouette might be the “baby head” people mention in comments, or a guard, or a VIP who thinks they are funny.
Method 2: world pickups and dailies
Some runs show animals just lying around. If a claim prompt appears on your path home, take it. If it requires a detour at orange light, leave it. Daily rewards can also spit limited cosmetics that behave like pets or pet furniture. Claim the daily in the morning, not as a night side quest.
Method 3: Robux exotics
Schnauzer 199, penguin 99, toucan 99. These are shop passes, not store RNG. They do not unlock rooms. Buy them after Never Hungry and a real door, or never. Full sermon on the exotic pets page.
Later 2026 store and pass rows also show tuxedo / orange cats and a polar bear. Treat them like every other companion: leftover daylight, one claim, park off the door sightline. They are not a new win condition.
Method 4: things that are not methods
- Codes. No verified pet code.
Sploingas a fish is unverified. Do not stand in the B-key panel hoping for a dog. - Night hunts. There is no moonlit legendary spawn you should be outside for.
- “Grab pet” scripts. That is the scripts hub. It is also how people skip a 40-second walk into a cookie stealer.
After you own one
Pets do not fight patrols. They do not replace the night checklist. If they clip you out of a corner, unequip or use save slot 2 as the zoo (lights). If a future patch adds pet noise, they go in the show slot only.
In 9-player lobbies, do not camp the adopt prompt. VIP inmates will already be crowding the nice rows. Your beagle is downstairs. Take it.
Get pets with leftover daylight. Get furniture with the first daylight. That order is the difference between a cell that looks alive and a player who is not.
If the lobby is loud and the adopt prompt is buried under nine avatars, wait one cycle rather than shoving. A missed beagle is cheaper than a missed hide. After you own a companion, glance at the pets tier list before you spend Robux on a toucan you will only screenshot once. The store is a pin. The bunker is the run. Come back on a clean morning, claim one animal, and get out before the clock turns mean again.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common My Jail Cell questions.
How do I get a pet in My Jail Cell?
Go to the pet store during the day and claim a free or cheap animal such as a beagle. VIP and exotic pets need passes.
Why does it say I am on pet cooldown?
The store limits rapid adopts. Wait, leave the UI, and do not start a new claim at dusk.
Can I get pets from codes?
Not from any verified code. Ignore single-blog fish claims until the codes hub marks them working.
Do pets help at night?
They are companions. Hide yourself, park the pet, and do not chase it into a patrol.
